About the game
Territory.io is a fast, tense .io land capture game set on a dark neon grid. You start with a small zone of light. The moment you leave it, you leave a glowing trail behind; when you get back to your own zone the trail closes and everything you enclosed is painted in your color at once. The bigger the loop, the more land you grab, but the longer your trail stays out in the open, the bigger the risk: if a rival touches your trail, your run is over. The same rule applies to everyone else, so cut across a BOT's open trail and it drops out and its whole territory vanishes from the map. Draw a loop into someone else's zone and you steal that land as well. The map holds 15 to 25 BOT rivals, each with its own personality: cautious ones draw small, safe loops, aggressive ones dive into huge areas, and hunters chase any trail left exposed. You level up as your territory reaches 3, 10, 20, 35 and 50 percent of the map; every level brings new BOTs into the arena and makes all of them play more aggressively. Cover 65 percent of the map to conquer it, and the game keeps going without a break on a bigger map with your level and score intact. If you get cut, you can watch an ad to keep your land and continue where you were, or start over. Patterned neon skins such as Electric, Plasma, Lava, Volt and Spectrum unlock as you progress. Your best percentage and highest level are saved, and it is free to play on phone, tablet and computer with no download.
How to play
- Steer with the mouse, the arrow keys or by dragging your finger.
- Leave your zone; a trail forms behind you.
- Return to your own zone: the trail closes and the enclosed area becomes yours.
- Cut the open trails of BOTs to knock them out, and keep yours safe.
- Level up at territory milestones, cover 65 percent of the map to conquer it and move on to a bigger map.
Controls
Touch: drag your finger in the direction you want to go and your runner turns that way; use the bottom-left button to change skin. Keyboard and mouse: you move toward the mouse pointer, or steer with the arrow keys / WASD; C changes skin, P pauses. After a knockout, press R to watch an ad and continue or X to start over.
FAQ
Are the rivals real players?
No. Every rival on the map is a computer-controlled BOT with a BOT tag next to its name. There is no online chat and there are no real players.
Do I lose my territory when I get knocked out?
You can choose to watch an ad and continue: your territory, level and score are kept and you respawn at the safest spot of your largest zone. If you skip it, the run ends and Play Again starts a fresh map.
How do I unlock new skins?
As your highest level rises, the Electric, Plasma, Lava, Volt, Night Current, Toxic and Spectrum skins unlock one by one. Unlocked skins stay saved in the same browser.
