About the game
Zombie Highway Defense is a fast action and defense game set on a ruined highway at dusk, with a burning city skyline on the horizon and wrecked cars smoldering on the shoulders. You drive an armored truck with riveted plates and a spiked ram, while energy turrets on the roof fire on their own and fill the road with tracer rounds. Grey-green infected pour down the cracked asphalt in hordes, their small eyes glowing in the dark. When they are hit there is no blood and nothing left behind: they break apart into a cloud of ash, dust and embers. Your job is the steering. Pick the right energy gate to add another turret, double your fire rate or fan your shots into a spread. Burning car wrecks block the lanes; shoot them until they explode or drive around them, because ramming one melts your armor. At the end of every level the Juggernaut, a huge armored rig hauling toxic tanks, rolls in as the boss. Spend the scrap you collect in the garage on armor, damage and magnet upgrades, and unlock new paint jobs for your truck. Normal mode keeps a steady difficulty curve. Hardcore mode sends tougher, faster and bigger hordes, but doubles your scrap and score and keeps its own stars. With twenty levels, star ratings and saved progress, it plays free on phone, tablet and computer with no download.
How to play
- In the garage pick NORMAL or HARDCORE and a level, then press DRIVE.
- Drag your finger or use the arrow keys to steer; the turrets fire on their own.
- Choose one of the energy gates: an extra turret, double fire rate or spread shot.
- Blast the infected hordes and burning wrecks, avoid what you can't clear and grab the scrap.
- Take down the Juggernaut at the end of the level and upgrade in the garage.
Controls
Touch: drag your finger left and right to steer the truck; in the garage tap the mode, levels, paint jobs and upgrades. Keyboard: steer with the Left/Right arrows or A/D; in the garage pick a level with the arrows, start with Enter or Space, buy upgrades with 1-2-3, change paint with C and toggle Hardcore with Z or H. After a level, Enter is next, R is retry and G is garage. P: pause.

FAQ
Is there blood or gore in the game?
No. The setting is dark and post-apocalyptic, but the infected crumble into ash, dust and embers when hit; there is no blood, no organs and no bodies left behind. There are no jump scares either.
What does Hardcore mode change?
In Hardcore the infected are tougher and faster, hordes are bigger and the Juggernaut fires more often. In return scrap and score are doubled, and your Hardcore stars are saved separately.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your unlocked levels, normal and Hardcore stars, scrap, upgrades and truck paint are saved in this device's browser.
