About the game
Space Defender is a fast sci-fi shooter where you fight wave after wave of enemies on your own. Your gunship fires automatically; you steer it by dragging your finger or with the arrow keys and weave through the bullet storms. Four-rotor drones with red sensor lights zigzag down and open fire, arrow-shaped kamikaze hunters lock on and dive straight at you, hexagonal armored gunships fire triple volleys, and big meteors split into smaller rocks as you hit them. Every fifth wave a huge mothership arrives: it sprays fans of bullets, fires aimed bursts from its turrets and, once it drops below half health, sweeps a red laser that splits the screen. Take it down and watch a chain of explosions in slow motion. Falling capsules upgrade your weapon up to level five, add a shield or give rapid fire, and every hit you take costs one weapon level. Destroying enemies in quick succession raises your streak multiplier. Normal mode gives you four shields, while Hardcore leaves you with two against bigger and harder waves. New ship skins unlock as you clear more waves. It is free and plays in the browser on phone and computer with no download.
How to play
- Choose Normal or Hardcore mode.
- Drag your ship or use the arrow keys; it fires on its own.
- Shoot drones, hunters, gunships and meteors while dodging bullets.
- W capsules upgrade your weapon, S adds a shield, R gives rapid fire.
- Destroy the mothership every 5 waves; move aside when its laser flashes.
