About the game
Number Army is a fast squad-building and line-defense game set on a battlefield after nightfall. At the bottom of the screen, behind concrete barriers, your helmeted and armored tactical squad holds the line, rifles firing upward nonstop while tracer rounds cut through the dark. Down the middle, a huge armored machine wall descends with a health number stamped on every plate. Each hit lowers a plate's number, and a plate that reaches zero bursts apart in sparks, metal debris and smoke. On both sides, +1, +2, +5, ×2 and RAPID gates drift down their lanes; fill one and your squad grows instantly or fires extra fast for a few seconds. That is the real decision: aim at the gates, or at the columns creeping toward the hazard stripe? Every fifth wave a boss machine with red sensors and a glowing reactor core rolls in. As its armor breaks it enters rage phases, lunges forward and launches missiles at your squad, which you can shoot down in midair. Between waves you spend gold on damage, fire rate and starting squad size, and beating bosses unlocks new camo patterns. Feeling confident? How to play
- Drag your squad left and right; your troops fire on their own.
- Shoot the gates in the side lanes to fill them: +1, +2, +5 troops, ×2 squad or rapid fire.
- Bring the numbers on the plates down to zero; focus on the lowest columns and shoot boss missiles down in midair.
- If the machine wall reaches the hazard stripe, you lose.
- Between waves, spend gold on upgrades; switch to HARDCORE for a real challenge.
Controls
Touch: drag left and right on the screen to move your squad; on the prep screen, tap NORMAL/HARDCORE, the upgrade cards, the camo slots and the DEPLOY button. Keyboard: left/right arrow keys or A/D to move; on the prep screen, 1, 2, 3 to upgrade, Z to switch mode, left/right arrows to change camo, Space or Enter to start the wave. P: pause.

FAQ
What do the gates do?
Each hit fills the segmented bar under a gate. When it is full your squad gains +1, +2 or +5 troops, the ×2 gate doubles your squad, and the RAPID gate makes you fire much faster for a few seconds.
What does HARDCORE mode change?
In HARDCORE the machine walls are thicker and bigger, they descend faster and gates take more hits to fill. Bosses lunge more often and fire more missiles. Your progress and best score are saved separately from normal mode, while upgrades and gold are shared.
Do I start over when I lose?
No. Each time you beat the boss on every fifth wave your progress is saved, and the next game continues from there. Your upgrades and gold are kept too.
Is Number Army free?
Yes, it is completely free and plays in your browser with no download. Watching an ad only gives an optional second chance.
