About the game
Last Fortress is a tower defense game about keeping a single fortified turret base alive through a long night siege. Searchlights sweep the dark ground as infected hordes with glowing eyes, fast runners, hulking infected wearing scrap armor and walking combat mechs close in from every side. Your turret automatically rains tracer rounds on the nearest target in range; your job is to spend the coins from each wave on the right upgrades. Choose between damage, fire rate, range, armor, repair and critical hits. As you upgrade, the base grows tier by tier, gains an antenna and radar, adds extra barrels and starts firing at several targets at once. Tap enemies for bonus hits, and when you are surrounded, trigger an EMP blast to clear the area. Every tenth wave a heavy mech marches in, and when it goes down the explosion, sparks and debris shake the whole screen. Normal mode keeps its familiar balance, while Hardcore mode makes enemies tougher, faster and harder hitting in exchange for double gems and a separate best wave. Spend gems on permanent upgrades and unlock desert, arctic, black ops and plasma turret skins as your best wave climbs. It is free and plays in the browser on phone and computer with no download.
How to play
- Pick NORMAL or HARDCORE ×2 in the menu and press DEFEND; your turret fires at targets in range by itself.
- Spend the coins from destroyed enemies on one of the six upgrades at the bottom.
- Upgrades raise the base tier and add barrels; get ready for the heavy mech every tenth wave.
- Hit the EMP button when surrounded, and tap enemies for bonus hits.
- When the base falls, spend your gems on permanent upgrades and beat your best wave.
Controls
Touch: tap the upgrade buttons at the bottom to buy, tap the EMP button for a shockwave, tap enemies for bonus hits. In the menu tap the NORMAL/HARDCORE switch, the permanent upgrade rows and the skin arrows. Keyboard: 1-6 buy upgrades, Space or E fires the EMP blast; in the menu Enter starts, H toggles hardcore, 1-6 buy permanent upgrades and ←/→ change the skin. P or Esc: pause.

FAQ
Is my progress saved in Last Fortress?
Yes. Your gems, permanent upgrades, normal and hardcore best waves and unlocked turret skins stay saved in your browser, so you pick up where you left off next time.
What does Hardcore mode change?
In Hardcore mode enemies have more health, move faster, hit harder and waves are more crowded. In return you earn double gems at the end of a run, and your best wave is tracked separately from normal mode.
Is there blood or gore in the game?
No. The atmosphere is dark and tense, but the enemies are infected creatures and robots that burst into ash, dust and sparks when destroyed. There is no blood, no bodies and no violence against people.
